I was in NASA's lunar lab once when I interned at Johnson Space Center. They spend hundreds of billions of dollars and pretty much the only thing they have to show for it now is 800 kg of lunar rocks. They are not for sale.

Nothing is as heavily guarded. Not only are the rocks in a huge vault. They are housed and handled behind glass filled with some kind of neutral gas to avoid any kind of contamination. All their handling is done via rubber glove ports through the glass.

The rocks are used for research purposes. Researchers submit experiment proposals. After that, I'm not sure.

However, I'm pretty sure that the rocks have never been handled directly with human hands. Access to those rocks is not easy.

If a woman can spend $20 million to go to the International Space Station, surely you can cough up a fraction of that for rock samples.

no, but you can purchase them from your local toystore. they're bouncy, made of rubber, and have a granite-like pattern, usually in grey or a kind of rust color. i think they even make ones that make an annoying siren sound when you throw them. actually, i think i've seen them at museum gift shops, so maybe nasa has a gift shop that sells them.

or there's this kind that i'd never seen before but are really cool: http://www.countdowncreations.com/toymoonrock_2.htm

p.s. nasa is an acronym, so if you're going to bother with caps, it needs to be all of them, not just the first letter.

NO

And if you could you would need to be a multi millionaire to afford it.

A friend of mines father worked for NASA during the moon landings and they found a lump of moon rock in his loft when he was moving house a couple of years back.

NASA wanted it fully insured before letting them post it back, this insurance was going to cost millions so they just left it at the US embassy in london.

No you cant. It just so happens that it is illegal to sell moon rocks in the USA.

I really do not think so. And by the way do you have that much of money to buy it?
