It's a song they sang at a camp as a kid. A very, very sad song.

The chorus went:
nye, n-nye, nye, nye, n-nye, nye, nye, nye, nye nye, nye, nye, nye, nye ,nye n-nye.

Or mayne, it was lye, le-lye, lye, le, lye, lye, lye, etc.

I've spent hours searching for the song on the Net. I can sing the tune a little, but I can't find the song with a search engine because I don't know exactly how to spell the words of the chorus.

Any help would be appreciated!

Ok that was weird. Why not record it as a wave file, then post it on your 360 blog and ask again, this time with a link to the wave file.
How sad was the song? Did somebody in the song die? More than one? Was it a girl or a guy who died in the song, or both? or did a girl leave a guy or did the guy leave the girl?

Wait a minute lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie

Got It! The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel!

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade,
and he carries the reminders
of every blow that knocked him low
or cut him till he cried out,
in his anger and his shame,
I am leaving I am leaving,
But the fighter still remains
lie lie lie, lie lie lie

ok, so you dont know any lyrics and you are unsure about the chorus too. If you remember that it was a very sad song, you must remember wat it was about - the subject matter, what the song described etc.
You said it was camp song . Do you remember what kind of camp specifically? A boy scouts camping, or some other specific organization that you went to camp with?
All these things will serve as clues to help find the song. Unfortunately you cant transcribe and search for a tune effectively on the internet.
If you can provide with some other details, I mght be able to assist you in searching.
thanks

Sounds like yellow brick road from elton john

So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough

But i could be wrong lol

How can we possibly identify a song that we can no longer hear, because its been stuck in your head 4 years?

It's amazing to me that you can't find the song with such specific clues.
