i dont know where you live, but im in australia, and you can take maternity leave when ever you want, you just get 12 months off from the date you left. all i needed was a note from the doctor stating i was pregnant so that my works head office knew i was indeed pregnant! i left work 8 weeks before my due date. my doctor never asked why i was leaving early, i suppose, to put it bluntly, its none of their business! she just wrote that i was pregnant and would be starting my maternity leave on my desired date! hope this helps, all the best!

I am unsure where you are from, but guessing the states, where i live in scotland, we get maternity from 11 weeks before the baby is due. If you want to take it early, you would need to tell the doctor that your not well and get a sick line for a few weeks, this way the work will make you take maternity leave early, but you'll still be paid, you might only be paid sick benefit though until your real date starts.

Just check out your rights for your area and then use your head, us women are amazing at it when we want to

GOOD LUCK

Why would you need to take maternity leave due to a living situation? Even if you had nowhere to live and needed to find a place, it doesn't take that long. It sounds like you just don't want to work right now. If you need to lie, then lie. However, I would consider giving it more thought. Remember, you want someone else to pay you to not work. Why should they? I know you're pregnant, but get real. Lots of women work while they're pregnant. Some work right up until they give birth. I empathize with whatever it is you may be going through, but please explain to me why your employer should be paying you to stay home because you got yourself into the position you're in right now? Do yourself and your baby a favor and grow up. Start being honest and do the right thing. Ask yourself, is this the type of parent I want to be? Life is full of challenges. How you choose to handle them says a lot about your character and the type of parent you will be. I wish you the best of luck!

You can lie to your doctor, but he won't be fooled.
Plus, maternity leave only valid for a few months, so if you get it 6 weeks early, it will end 6 weeks early too.
Better have a tlak with your boss, or pretend that you're stressed out from the job and need few days rest.

You could take you vacation right before maternity leave. I don't know how much time you need but if it's a while you might as well quit your job.

Probably not because most Drs will not lie for their patients and since they actually check you out every visit they would probably know if you were lieing but you could explain to your Dr that you are very stressed at work and that you are having a lot of cramping and pain at work but seem to be ok when you get home. Some pains during pregnancy can be faked actually and Drs can't prove its a lie. I have never done it but no people that have. Me I had all the problems for real and never could work my entire pregnancies. If you get to stressed it is bad for you and baby so your Dr may help you out.

Wow! No. I mean the most you can do is tell him the truth and see if he will come up with a story for you, but whatever you do don't lie to your doctor. Based on that lie he may take some action that is harmful for the baby.

Telling a lie never amounts to anything good. Tell the truth and things will work out one way or another. It won't be the end of the world.

it really wouldn't matter if you got it early....paid maternity leave only covers a certain amount of time so if you take it early and stay out till normal time then at some point it will be unpaid....its not your boss's decision really....it's a cooperate thing.
