Okay, so I've been thinking about joining the rugby club at my college. I don't know if I should keep my cartilage ring in my piercing because I'm not sure if it will close up on me. My piercing has finally healed about two weeks ago, and I just wanted to know if I were to take it out for a few hours, would it close up?

It depends how long you have had it pierced. When I first had mine done (within the first 6 months or so) I could not take it out for over an hour without it closing and then having to repierce it. I would suggest you try it for a little amount of time, before you actually have to, and see if it closes or not. Good Luck

If it has just recently healed you may want to be careful, I generally wait a few weeks or so after the healing process is complete before I let my cartilage piercings stay out for extended periods of time, but as long as it is healed, it should be fine.

Cartalidge is a semi-bone so it won't close up. However, the skin on either side can. How long have you had the piercing? If you've had it for a long time, I wouldn't worry about a few hours. It doesn't really hurt to poke the skin through again if it does close up, but make sure that your hands and the jewelry is clean and that you sea salt soak often to make sure it doesn't get infected.

I doubt a few hours is going to do anything to it. I've done it for a couple hours before. I finally just let em close up because i've had so much trouble with it. Now I have a big bump on my ear and have to get it removed by a dermatologist. someday :(
