I'm getting ready to start the interview process as a new teacher and I was just wondering what to expect in an interview.

Some questions I asked a potential teacher"

What is your discipline model?
How will you uphold state standards?
How will you differentiate instruction for special needs students? English Language Learners? Gifted students?
How will you assess student progress?
How will you use assessment data to guide your instruction?
How will you communicate with parents?
Are you willing to take part in extra-curricular activities (i.e. committees)?
What do you feel are your strengths as a teacher?
What area do you feel you need to improve?

Recently I went for one and got in. Questions asked were," Why do you want to teach?"

What will you do if your students think that the subject you''re teaching is of no use to him in future?
What will you do to a class which is very weak in the subject you're teaching?

I guess they'll give you a scenario and see how you react to it. Whether you can think fast and give appropriate answers will definitely give you the upper hand. Wish you luck.

I was asked why I choose teaching, my mission in life and was given situations and how I solved it. It was more on classroom discipline and facing/talking to parents which could be difficult here in my country.
