I'd say a one-year deal worth $750,000 with a player's option for 2008. He's not going to be the 1998 Sosa, hell not even the 2004 Sosa, I'm sure they can rely on him batting the in the sixth spot, it'd be a decent lineup, definitely DH though. If they take him the lineup should look like.

RHP

1: Kenny Lofton - CF
2: Michael Young - SS
3: Mark Teixeria - 1B
4: Hank Blalock - 3B
5: Ian Kinsler -2B
6: Brad Wilkerson - RF
7: Sammy Sosa - DH
8: Frank Cattalonatto (sp?) LF
9: Gerald Laird

On the LHP order they should switch Lofton for Young and bring Sosa a little higher and put Blalock a littler lower.

Sammy Sosa could not get it done 2 years ago. He should stay in the DR and enjoy retirement. Will he test positive for steroids or cork his bat again? Why embarass himself and take a roster sport from a more deserving young prospect?

Absolutely. There is no conclusive evidence that Sosa was on roids. Yes he did get enormous, but we can't judge him until proven guilty. McGwire and Bonds have proof against them. I'd love to see Sosa play solid ball in Texas. I think .250 ave, 33 hr, 86 rbi are not out of the question in that lineup.

Sammy does not need any money. If he was really serious about playing he would be playing in his country for a winter ball team, and he is not. I really don't think he wants to play and Texas should not take away a roster spot just to put butts in the seats.

Why not, the Dodgers gave Ricky Henderson a go and he did okay. Conseco tried out and he got his walking papers. Sosa still has a few good years in him. Maybe not a multi million dollar contract, but minimum wage sounds good. What is it Texas $7.50 an hour? HAHAHA

They could use him as a DH, just sign him for a 1 yr. deal and if he does well middle of season maybe trade him to a contender because Texas sucks every year. At least better than Tampa Bay.

As the only player in MLB history to have three 60+ homer seasons in his career, and with his 588 career homers, he deserves the shot. Check out this post below.

No........Sosa and his cork bat should not be given another chance anywhere..........Enough of these kind of cheaters, steroid freaks, etc...........Clean up the game and keep them out.......Kids look up to these players and make them their heroes..........What are they looking up to when they want to emulate players like Sosa or Bonds or any of the others who have been caught cheating in one way or another??????.......CAT

Why shouldn't they? It's not like the Rangers have a moral code or for that matter, any championships to speak of.

Sure he deserves a chance. I'm looking forward to watching him swing the bat again.
