How can you possibly make such a sweeping statement. Do you know ALL Americans? I have no American friends in fact I've only ever met them whilst on holiday but my perception of them is friendly and helpful. You must take time to get to know these people then you might change your views; and as for Americans being from England and Europe, that is as bad as saying all English people are from Germany (Saxons) Try to get your facts right before jumping in feet first.

Americans are from ANY country; a melting pot. The English settled 250 years ago, and are minor immigrants since. More Irish, Scandnavian, German, Chinese, and now Mexican than any others.
I think the American snub is a regional thing. I see it on the east and west coast more than the midwest and south.
I have been to Europe and see the same reaction in Scandnavia and Germany and Netherlands...I suspect it is cultural.

Americans I have met are all good people, but during conversations I have noticed 2 things that I cannot understand about Americans.1)They don't feel safe without the protection of an image.and 2)They think American nationalism is more superior than other types when really we all probably feel nationalistic about our own countries anyway. Apart from these 2 things,I had no problems whatsoever.

1st, yes, american's amicability seems often unnatural because it is often shown hyperbically. Another reason to think it is that some of americans I know say one thing - do completely the other.
America consists a kind of multinational nation. It affects people's manners, still environment determines our realization.
People differ. I have several americam male friends. Good luck!

I'm American and it can be hard making friends with us Americans...sometimes. It depends on the person and how they grew up which affects their behaivor towards others. Like my mother was always strict with me and my brothers and my aunt on the other hand wasn't and now has rude and wild children. So you may have just met the wrong people.

I don't find American people less natural acting and less sincere,I,on the contrary, find them very friendly although I hate their political leaders killing innocent people across the world for the sake of oil.

First of all they always live in a fool's paradise.
Secondly, life has been made for them so tough by plenty of taxes etc.,that have made them extremely selfish.
Thirdly, they believe on what media says, even the reality is different, that they are super power and only super power in the world.
Fourthly, they are skipping away from religion, spirituality and moral values day by day. That makes them away from humanity.
Fifthly, they feel guilty of what they are behaving with poor Afghans, Iraqis and other Muslims, even they not accept it openly.
