Bollywood refers to Hindi cinema and, although you may think it's "wannabe," the name is here to stay. The film industry in India has been around for almost 100 years (since 1913, at least) and is extremely active, producing films that are enjoyed primarily by the international Hindi community (we show them here in Houston regularly) but also by people of all races, colors, shapes, and sizes. If you get any of the international channels through your cable provider, you will undoubtedly come across something from Bollywood. Give them a try--they can be silly and melodramatic, and people tend to break out in song at the least provocation (not unlike US and British musicals), but they can also be a lot of fun!

And do you have any objection to Dolly Parton and Dollywood?
