Explain why government has always been important in the lives of most Americans?

From the beginning of this country we understood that the Republic would best be served by a representative government. Town hall meetings could never run the 13 original states let alone the current 50 states.

Because, its a Government FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE.
It should be important to the American people, if we dont take it seriously, someone else will.
