Unfortunatly there in the UAE, animals aren't regarded with the dame love as they are in the West.

There are only 2 organizations that protect animals here. K9 friends for dogs and Feline friends for cats. They are overwhelmed with animals and can not only rely on the support of volunteers. K9 friends was going to be evicted last year from it's permises as they could no longer afford the rent. Thankfully people from all over the world sent in donations to save the (around) 150 dogs there. Currently it's still a worry. The goverment has been approached to help, but nothing has been done so far. Every day there are at least 2-3 dogs found on the streets, while more than 10 kittens and cats are left to die on the streets.
