My husband I have been married for 41 years. We are still sweethearts. Our love has grown more deeply for each other over the years. We do not always: like each other, agree, enjoy the same hobbies, TV shows, movies, foods, activities. Our personalities and temperaments are opposite of each others.
When I compare our marrage and the marrages of others who have been married for a long time, the one common theme I see we all seem to have is we are commitment to each other. We are committed to stay in this relationship and finding a way to make it work.
What is the meaning of marrage? To make God our creator look good. Marrage was His idea. When God created man and woman, Adam and Eve, after He had created everything else on earth including the animals, He said making human was His crowning creation.
When we follow God's guidelines for marriage layed out for us in the Bible, we will find meaning to marrage. In other words, meaning has to come from outside of ourselves and our self- centered man(human) way of thinking.
