i dunno what gifts to give to my niece this coming weekend....she's about 8 yrs old.....any ideas????

A book.Make it a book.I always remember those adults who gave me books.She might not want it now if she doesnt like reading,but she'll read it someday.As long as she remembers that story book,she'll always remember you.Buy an Enid Blyton story book.It suits her age.

a WEBKINZ animal. They are stuffed animals that have codes with them that will let you create a virtual world on a PC for your Webkinz. They're the hottest toy right now. You can usually get them at Hallmark stores or places that sell Beanie Babies. They have two types lil kinz and the Webkinz. The lil kinz are smaller and cost less, around $8 and the Webkinz are around $10 to $12.

Bratz dolls are really big if she still plays with toys.
But if she is like some of the 8 years old I know she probably thinks she is more mature than she reallly is, like 12 or 13.
In this case, get her a cute little handbag or some clothes.
Hair barettes.
Something I like to get my little cousin's at this age is BonBon's brand makeup. I get it at Wal mart, and it is really cheap, like $0.88 for a little lip gloss or a polish. They come in alot of colors, but it is more of a "fun" make up for little girls so they can feal big and but not be too made up.
Make a basket or goody bag up with some candy and some little make up.

if you don't mind the impersonal thing I think I see a gift card in your niece's future (and really, there's nothing wrong with gift cards or cash)
if you want to get her something specific as her parents what they are getting, what she likes, maybe there is something she is getting you can "add on" to
like if she is getting a doll house or barbie house or something like that you can get dolls/accessories that fit that
if she is happening to get or have an ipod or mp3 player, a card to use on itunes or napster would probally be welcome to help her fill it up.

Get her a little "som-som" to open like an inexpensive costume jewerlery set from toys r us/ target-then give her cash in singles they think they are millionaires when they have 20-30 in singles and tell it is ALL for her to do whatever SHE wants.
