If you're confused, the first step is to find a gender therapist. She will help you determine if you are actually transsexual or merely some variety of transgendered person such as a cross dresser. If you are in fact transsexual, she will write you a letter you can take to an endocrinologist to get a prescription for hormones, which will consist of a testosterone blocker, an estrogen, and possibly progesterone. You'll need to start hair removal on your face, by laser or electrolysis. When you're ready, you then start living full time, 24/7, as female. After a year of living full time you can then get two letters from therapists, one of which has to be a psychiatrist or PhD psychologist, recommending you for sex reassignment surgery. For much more detailed info about transition, look at http://tsroadmap.com/

Honestly from what I believe about sexuality and gender, I don't think you can prevent becoming transsexual/transgender.
BTW gender and sexuality are different. Gender is how you identify yourself, usually male or female (although there are other forms of gender, these are the most common). Sexuality is the gender which you are drawn to sexually, emotionally and spiritually (i.e. are you a female drawn to males, a male drawn to males, a female drawn to females...etc. etc.)
Sorting these two things out is a process everyone must encounter, and for many people it is not an easy process. Sometimes the gender you are drawn to may nor may not "fit" (in the conventional sense) the body you have been given (you may have a male body, but be female identified, for example).
If you are confused, this is okay. Give yourself time to sort through these issues. The truth of who you are will show itself it time.
Although it is a difficult journey to becoming a transsexual, if this is who you are at your core, this is who you should be. Denial of who you are is far more painful than any social pressure you will face for being transsexual/transgender.
So, I don't think it is something you can prevent, and be honest with yourself, if this is who you are. Best of luck.

you must start with seeing a doctor at first. then, maybe you will find yourself and who you really are as well. the decision is life changing so go slow and be sure of it all the way along.
