I just a external harddrive. I have a macbook pro, and the icon for the harddrive appeared on my desktop. i clicked it and there was an autorun icon. so i clicked that, then it said i had to choose and application. How am i supposed to know which application to pick?

Better U explore your hard drive from their shown every folder and file.
Form that option u choose your folder or Application and run the application by clicking.

I don't have much experience with external drives, even though I have one for backup purposes. What I'm understanding from your post here is that you are trying to access a new empty drive. Am I correct?
