My 8 yr old is playing this game, pokemon fire red version, He has completed the game, yet is shy alot of pokemon. He has a total of 126, sounds like he will need 150... how does he get them? He said he didn't end up getting snorlax, chansey, or that rare bird.. the electric one ( one in the power plant) now, does he need to play the game all over again to get the 150? also, I have been reading about this cable, wireless stuff? what exactly does it mean? I went to wal - mart tonight and they had no idea what I was talking about. plus, I thought I read somewhere he needs this leaf green version, I went to buy that... again, wal- mart didn't have it.So do I have to get it? Again, he's only 8 so he has no friends who are working on this if he needs to trade with them, ( I thought i read that somwhere too) ... HOW DOES ALL THIS WORK?? my little guy is going crazy, I just want to help, but man, have video games changed since I was a kid... old school nintendo for me lol I'm lost. help pls.

This is based on my knowledge of Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow. I played Yellow, which is the version in the family with Blue and Red, which is what Fire Red and Leafy Green is the "updated" version of.

There are three categories of Pokemon he's missing.

1. The ones he's missed. If he didn't catch Snorlax or the legendary birds (that's the official term for them if you care) and Mewtwo (there might be a few more) and you don't have anyone to trade them from, you're going to have to restart. (Also, Chansey's just rare but catchable.)

2. The ones only on Leafy Green. These you're going to have to trade (this is what a cable is for and possibly the wireless part) from Leafy Green (or possibly Blue if they're compatiable).

3. Ones that you cannot get without promotions. :]. If the game hasn't changed that much, then it's only Mew. However, this is unnecessary to complete the whole Pokedex.

All else fails, go to gamefaqs.com and choose GameBoy Advance and find Fire Red. They have various walkthroughs for the game and in-depth Pokedexes.

Best of luck. (And man does this bring back memories. XD. I caught them all, gamesharked Mew, and then restarted my Yellow. :].) If no one answers this well, I do have a game guide and you can tell me specifically which Pokemon he's missing and I can look them up.

On the back of the box, it says which pokemon are not in this version, so they are in Leaf Green. If you go on ebay, you can find a package deal for the wireless thing/game but for it to work you need two game boys and if you do then...

1) Play the Leaf Green and catch pokemon listed on the back of the box.

2) Turn on other gameboy w/ Fire Red and go upstairs in the pokecenter.

3) Repeat with Leaf Green.

(To get the starter pokemon from the beginning, use Leaf Green, delete the saved data, pick a different pokemon, and trade. Repeat.)

It is confusing, but for a simple guide, go to ign.com, search pokemon F/L and pull up a FAQ
