If you look at the environmental damage that man has done to the "Planet" in the last 100 years,unless something drastically changes ,soon, I don't think the American Empire,as you call it,will have to worry about it's longevity approaching the 100 year mark you assume

America is a Republic, not an Empire, and will surely last longer than 100 years. Its survived far worse things

America is not an empire. The "Age of Oil" will end and the whole world is going to freak out... america will survive better than most countries. In a hundred years America will be an empire.

I think it will end sooner than that. The people already seem to forget what this country was founded upon, and we are constantly in other countries business trying to establish that we are a super power.

The USA only sees its strengths and ignores its many weaknesses and that will be its downfall. I believe the proper word for this symptom is arrogance.
