Probably something conservative like navy blue, gray, maroon, or brown. Would depend on where, when, and time of year the funeral occurs. Summer would create a different set of colors and styles just because of the season.

Gray or a navy color. But it really depends on the funeral, People are having them less somber for their loved ones now. I heard about one where the deceased love Hawaiian shirts so everyone wore the bright Hawaiian clothing.
In some cultures white is the color of mourning.

If the family is a serious bunch stick with the darker hues family: Navy, gray, etc. If not wear something you would like for the person to see you in for the very last time.

I agree with Betty, Gray (on the darker side) is appropriate. Why can't you wear black?

Do you know Purple is the Italian mourning color? You could wear an eggplant color purple easily and be tasteful.

I would definitely wear white, as it represents celebration and after all we would be celebrating the new life of the person who has gone on....
