If you shave your pubic hair what are you expected to leave of it?

I just shave all of it off, even in my but crack. I do it for hygenic reasons. I've never experienced more pain than trying to get a pad off of public hair because the pad decided to fold over on the top. Once I took that pad off is when I shaved all my hair off and I've never had a messy period since.

I leave mines in a 1" strip down the middle. It's hot!
