Has anyone here ever dated an indian girl before?

My girl is from india, and im from nigeria. I really like her and i want to see if its practical to go further into the relationship. We've been dating for a year now and shes very sweet and unlike any other. If anyones dated an indian girl, how did it work out for u? Would it help with the family situation if we were both on our way to becoming doctors? Any helpful thoughts are welcome.

Indians are great and I love the culture but boy is it a task.

Stay with it and make sure that her family is okay with you dating her.

Are you Muslim? Is she? That may help. That is the only thing his family likes about me.

I have never dated a girl from India. Notice I make a distinction here between an Indian from India and an Indian raised in the USA, where they are easily corrupted by their peers and the constant media assault. However, I have met a few at work (I work in Information Technology and a lot of that work is now done by consultants from India) and I have been impressed. I think you are on the right track. My dealings have led me to believe that many Indians girls are, as the poet John Milton said, "sober, steadfast and demure". You'll discover that is hard to find in the USA. Can't comment on the family situation.

Good luck- my cousin dated an Indian guy who was perfect in every way but he told her right off the bat don't expect me to marry you I have to marry within my culture.His parents made sure that he found a nice Indian girl and they were married. Make sure before you get too serious how her parents feel about the two of you being together.
