Help! "Sticky "mouse and touchpad on Inspiron - what's going on?

Question

Recently my mouse and touchpad have started acting up after two years of faithful service. I now have to click fast (hard) on the left button to get my cursor to accept typed letters. Also when I select something the mouse often ends up dragging an icon rather than deselecting after a click. Is this a hardware or software problem? I tried changing mouses (mice?) with no luck. Help! Very annoying...

It could be a pointer drivers problem. If you contact tech support online they could diagnose the problem and give you a link to download the software needed to fix the problem.
