I remember his movies. My parents talked about him. He was so popular he could have been elected President. Oklahoma put him on the ballet, but he turned it down. He said, "I never met a man I didn't like." "All I know is what I read in the papers." "Everybody is ignorant, only on different subjects." There are many, many more, but this is all I can think of right now. He was flying with Wiley Post in Alaska when the plane went down. They were both killed. This was in the mid 30s.

All the NYTimes and Financial Times pieces are well argued and well written. Unfortunately some of the columnists are behind a pay-wall.
