There are many myths with twins. Fraternal twins are hereditary and the skipping a generation thing is a myth. Fraternal twins run on mothers side only. Identical twins is something that occurs randomly and is not hereditary. So if your mother is a fraternal twin you have a possibility of also having twins.

Anyone can have twins, but if your asking about heredity, If your mom was an Identical twin then No, that means that the egg split and made two Identical babies, But if they were congenital twins that means that two eggs were fertilized and made in two different sacs, its supposed to skip a generation which means you could have twins. Anyway that's how my twin friend explained it, hope this helps

it is possible but all depends on the genes that are in your egg that are part of your DNA. if you have the recessive gene for twins then you wont have twins, but if you carried on the dominant gene for twins from your mother, then the possiblities that you will have twins are high, but it also depends on that of the father's genes as well.
