Once you first get ur period is it supposed to be very heavy? And how do you make it less heavy?

The flow of women's menstrual cycle varies. Some women may start heavy for the first 2 days and then lessen as their cycle continue (like myself). Then you have women who are heavy from beginning to the end...then you have the lucky one's who are very light, with their cycle lasting a few days. I do not believe that you can make your cycle less heavy unless you get on some type of birth control pill. So, I suggest talking to your family doctor or gynecologists about pills that can lessen your menstrual flow.

The above are very good answers. If you are really athelic, that may help with the heavyness. Some women just are heavy (I sure am one of them) I would talk to your mother and grandmothers (if still around) and see how theirs are/was. I find this usually runs in families. I know my friend was light like her mother and, well me, i'm like my mother, heavy.

Yes, it can be very irregular your first time. Theres nothing you can do about the way your flow has come about. My friend had her first period for 11 days but now she is completely normal after almost 8 years have passed since she's started menstrating.

It can be heavy or light or medium and there is no way to change it short of taking birth control pills.

Some have it heavy, while others don't. Sometimes it varies. There's really nothing healthy that you can do to lighten it up. Unless you stop eating or something, you just have to accept it! Sorry!
