Sometimes there funny but are cruel. I am part jewish and everytime i find a dime or a penny on the floor, i pick it up and every one says the see my jewish side. ithink its funny but others dont. Im part Hispanic so people call me other things and im part indean so they think i cant make good deals. Im american and a whole lot of other races and nationalitys and religions. I dont get why people do it?

The need to categorize is a great need.
I wouldn't delve into worry about it. Just because I'm half British (thanks, Dad) I get the old Limey nickname, but I laugh with the people who call me that, so I don't feel as if they're laughing AT me, you know?

Part Scot here - among other things. My name however leaves room for the same 'skinflint' type comments I am sure you get. And I pick up pennies, use coupons, negotiate car deals - and car loans. The thing with stereotypes is that there are enough members of any group that display certain tendencies, that all members of that group get pigeonholed as it were with those individuals. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that those 'group models' seem to be highly visible, or loud enough to draw much attention, or persistent enough in their conduct to get labeled. Once the label is there, application to the entire group naturally and inevitably follows. The stereotype is not always flattering or amusing, but there it is and just try to shake it!
