Yes, it's okay not to have gained weight by now, especially if you were overweight when you got pregnant. As long as your baby is growing properly and you're eating healthy, then you're doing okay. However, you will more than likely start to gain weight soon, unless you're one of the rare few who actually loses weight. I think if your doctor was concerned, then he would have said something to you by now. I've had 3 children and didn't start gaining weight until I was about 16 weeks, and I was within a healthy weight range when I conceived. I ate a lot and just didn't gain weight. However, I eventually did and all three of my children were born over 8 pounds. As long as your baby is developing age appropriately, you have nothing to worry about.
It is also possible to feel your baby move as early as 16 weeks. It's usually just a flutter or a poke at first. Before you know it, it'll be kicking and punching you in the gut. Good luck!

Yeah, I don't think you should worry about it that much because your baby is still growing. As long as you mention it to the Dr. next time you see him/her, they should put your mind at ease. I was overweight when I first got pregnant & lost so much weight in my first trimester that I gained back my normal weight by the end of the pregnancy. So I wouldn't worry about the lack of weight gain. Besides you are still in the early stages. Once you get farther along, you'll notice some weight gain. And if not, be very THANKFUL! lol As far as the baby moving, it is very possible you are feeling the baby! What a wonderful moment. Enjoy it while you can :) Good luck in the pregnancy!

I wouldn't really be worried about this....I would be thankful. I have had 4 children (from 1979-1984) that ranged from 8.5#-9.2# and I am here to tell you (as I did my daughter-in-law just recently) that weight gain or loss does not mean that the baby is NOT gaining weight, it just means that YOU are not gaining weight and the baby is remaining stable. Be thankful. It's not like, because you haven't gained, that the baby will weigh 1#....it just means that you may weigh less than you did before you became pregnant. Bring something "slimming" in the bag that you pack to the hospital. I remember sitting in the waiting room with a woman and I was so proud because it was my first child and I told her that I had only gained 12# in my pregnancy and she was HUGE and I asked her how much she'd gained and she said she had lost 70# and she ended up having a boy that weighed over 8#. Be thankful....less sit-ups, right?

Don't worry about not gaining weight. I am 35 1/2 weeks and am still 7 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight. Sometimes if you have weight to lose, the increase in metabolism that the baby needs will also act on your body and cause you to either gain no weight during pregnancy or actually lose weight. This is not a problem. If your OB is concerned about it, they will let you know. Go ahead and ask your OB at your next appt. if you are really concerned! Congrats on your growing baby!!!

It's actually pretty common that your weight is "stabilizing". I had the same thing happen. I was slightly overweight and actually lost 3 pounds the first trimester with triplets and NO morning sickness! If you're not sure if it's your baby you are feeling, lay on your left side quietly and very still for an hour. You will probably feel your baby move. Congratulations!

Count yourself lucky, I gained about 15 pounds in the first 2-3 weeks, then lost it over the next 2.5 - 3 months. I kept loosing weight even over christmas, the baby is great, but I need to "eat more and better calories" good god, if i eat more calories, I'm going to turn into cheese cake! NOW i'm evened out and weight is normal....
Morning sickness combined with not wanting to look at food was bad.
I'm 16 weeks and about 10 lbs above ideal, I've been feeling the baby move for about 2 weeks now. He/She is VERY active.
Good Luck

you will probably start to put on weight later in pregnancy which is good since overweight women are supposed to gain less than an average sized women. I wouldnt worry unless your dr mentions it. It doe sound like you are feeling your baby move, that's usually how it starts with the little taps during rest. how exciting!

It is not unusual not to gain any weight, especially if you started out a little overweight. It would not even be unusual to loose weight at first. Also, it is not unusual to feel the fluttering of little kicks. They will be strange sensations like the anxious butterflies in your stomach and slowly get stronger until others will feel it too from the outside.

It's pretty normal to not gain, or even lose weight, at the beginning of pregnancy. Your body is burning extra calories to feed the baby.
One of my friends only gained 7 and 12 lbs. with her pregnancies, and her girls were full-term, 7 lb. babies.
