My friend's daughter is 12 years old and she told her mom that she recently started her period. She was sick with strep throat/or a cold and her mom thinks that she had diarrhea. Which one is correct? The daughter seems mature but could it just be diarrhea?

Her mom doesn't seem she's in denial. She actually seemed amazed.

The only way to truely know is to get checked out. Unfortunately, that can be invasive, but doesn't have to be. Another option is that it could be both. She could of had her period & ironically been sick at the same time.

it may have been both actually. when a girl gets her period the muscles contract around the same area where the bowles are and the result is the Sh**s plus a period... either that or the girls mom was in denial... Wait another month and you'll find out.. be prepared and if shes worried about her mothers opinion.. don't tell her and dispose of things privately and secretely

Nope below no circumstances...that is okay to positioned off explaining something till you've the right words and so on, or if mom is more effective perfect at explaining it. Technically adult men can't have toddlers, and Chris is a guy that likes being like a woman yet isn't a woman. (yet ?) the actual shown reality that adult men can undertake and so on, gay or no longer is a longggg communique. I undergo in ideas the first time i became requested something about transgender peeps, we were in an outdoors marketplace in Mexico and that i purchased stretch mark cream from 2 venders that were transgender,(very frustrating to inform in my opinion) yet my daughter, stated something like "mama are they time-honored women orrrrr?" she easily picked up on it, and she or he became round 6 besides.. lengthy convo ensued and she or he stated "oh they are very tremendously" and that became it. Now she is a youngster and intensely in touch with gay/les/trans community's rights and so on,, open, accepting and a sensible newborn. (and fyi many childrens brazenly say they are gay even in junior intense lately, and that is regularly occurring/respected by technique of maximum and many childrens bypass dress besides, and each of the youngsters understand why..in case you requested your newborn it truly is a youngster why a woman might want to dress like a guy,,, they are going to inform you why)

How can you not tell the difference between menstruation and diarrhea? One is from the vagina, the other from the anus. Have the girl wear a pad and see if there is blood on it in an hour.

Diarrhea does not look like a period or discharge so if she had diarrhea should would have known the difference. Trust me loose stool doesn't look like a period or discharge.

examine the panties and see where the mess seems to be coming from. while sorting the laundry, I thought my daughter crapped her pants too. I was almost ready to start yelling at her for being so lazy and not wiping properly (cuz she honestly is really lazy), when I looked again and realized that it didn't look like poo. She didn't even realize she started...

her mom is in denial... it was her period

ok and to further explain, I wasn't trying to say that her period looked like diarhea in the toilet... *shudders* What I meant was that women produce a hormone that causes them to have a big bowel movement right before they start their period. It was probably the hormonal flux that caused her to "poo" not just diarhea

btw saying women only is a bit sexist don't you think?

12 is an average age to start menstruating, at least i thought. It also depends on activity levels and all... unfortunately, if she did, it will probably be abnormal so it will be impossible to know until it happend again..

it's possible that it was in fact both. there have been times when i was having my period that my stomach got upset and the result was diarrhea. it happened a lot more when i was a teen, so it's possible that she experienced both.
