Peace is hard to come by in this day and age of hustle and bustle. One has to find inner peace within themselves. Once that is accomplished, then they can spread peace to others.
It is fact that wars have been around for centuries. I believe that wars are none other than the result of barbaric men pursuing their endless greed and protecting their pride. Not only that, but why is it that males always think that they are right, especially when it comes to religion. Men are so insistent that their way is the right way and only way of doing things. Keeping a closed mind is not the way to find peace.
When people start respecting other people and their beliefs, that is when we will see peace. The key is an open-mind.

The best way to find peace as a civilization is to make sure everyone has enough food and medical care and a good education. After that, we need to push outward.
The restless souls need some danger, something they can achieve and the obvious solution is space. If we could put the same effort into getting out into space that we did into WWII, we could achieve it and the children of the world would have something to strive for.
It doesn't matter that a lot of people will die to achieve the dream. If you talked to people who dream of getting out into space and tell them chances are they'll likely die in trying, most of them would just grin and say "But we'd get there."

There's not much hope for peace internationally, since the earth hasn't been seen a single day without war since around medival times (or before, I forget exactly....anyway it was quite a while ago!) But within our nation it comes down to people having to make the decision to agree to disagree, and stay united regardless of issues.

Be understanding of other peoples views and beliefs, especially religious. Or just get rid of all the religions they seem to be the main reason for much of the violence throughout the ages.
Get rid of all the weapons.
