Movies, you have to consider, are copyrighted and NOT free. Thus downloading MOVIES is illegal and an offense, under piracy laws.
For downloading though, bittorrent is increasingly popular for large files and the most popular bittorrent client is utorrent @ http://www.utorrent.com/
1. Laptops are generally low on HDD space, so note, you require space on your hard drive.
2. Your internet connection, a dial-up connection will not do, for downloading large files, you require a broadband connection
3. You need to "port forward" your router, or your modem, instructions to do this are at http://www.portforward.com/ . , this involved opening your Router/Modem configuration page, and setting NAT rules
4. You can find torrents, through a google search, or the search bar in the top right of utorrent.
that should be all.

why not just get DVDFab for only $40 dollars, then rent the movies and copy them. Its much easier, faster, safer, and cheaper in the long run. If their is a block buster near you, get the freedom pass, this way you can rent as many movies as you want, and have up to two at a time.

It's a federal offense, but sure - go for it. Unless, of course, you don't like the idea of prison.
