I have a down feather parka that is white nylon on the outside. It has light red stains all over it, but it is only a little tint. The coat is machine washable, but is the stain going to come out? I've been scrubbing the coat with Shout for a while now and I haven't seen any improvement in it.

Don't bother dry cleaning it, hon, now that you've set the stain with water it's not going to come out with chemical cleaning... machine washing it is your only chance now. Use a decent stain soak and you may have a chance.

I agree with Laura. The stain is probably permanently set and regular washing is your best bet at this point. Wash the jacket in warm water, a mild soap (like Woolite) and a cold rinse. DO NOT use fabric softener as this will coat the feathers and make them clump together. Run it again through another full cycle with plain water to completely rinse the soap out. Tumble dry on the lowest setting with a couple of tennis balls or a pair of tennis shoes. These will restore the down to it's original fluffiness.

what is the red tint or stain? for most stains I have found that nylon can be cleaned nicely with a product called Mean Green...add it directly to the stain straight from the bottle, let it sit a few minutes and wash as you normally would with a half a cup of Mean Green in the washer...that should do it.

Use some liquid bleach for colored clothes and pour right on the stain. Rub and let it sit a while. Then throw it in the wash on warm
