I have a note book of two years and it seems if i rest my wrist down onto the lap top over where the hard drive is the computer freezes, and slows down most of the time. Example, while playing a game at it's normal rate, before any damage incurred, is now moving slow motion.... I have taken it to a computer place, but they said they may have to replace the whole motherboard. Is there any other possible way to fix this? By the way, another thing is, the clock is always wrong. Even when i fix it, it doesn't keep up with the normal clock pace. Ehm, thank you for your help i really do appreciate it!! P.S. this computer is the most awesomest computer and i hope no ones ultimate answer is to buy a new one -.- !! :P ok have a great day!

Replacing the motherboard may end up being the fix. Since the computer clock no longer keeps the correct time, it sounds like you have a dead CMOS battery. And once they've opened up your laptop enough to replace the battery, while they're at it you might as well have them check on the motherboard and see what it will take to resolve the hard drive issues.

With the hard drive, it sounds like something is getting nudged out of place when you rest your wrist in the right (or wrong) spot. It might be something they can fix with a simple re-soldering job. They might also find that the motherboard has to be replaced. Either way, they'll know for sure once they open the machine up.

If it were mine, I'd take the machine to the shop and let them do what it takes to fix it, but be prepared to shell out for a new m/b. Sorry if that's not the answer you were looking for, but that is a definite possibility. Best of luck!

The only thing I can figure out by your description of the problem is there is indeed some type of damage either to the motherboard itself or to the hard drive. It sounds to me that the game got a little intense for you - could you have given it just a tap?
Obviously, if the motherboard is damaged - this could be very expensive and you probably would be better off buying a new one.
There is no easy fix here!

1. I don't know what you you mean by "computer place", but you need someone who knows what their doing if you have stuff on your HD that you want to keep. if it's 2 years old and has a bad MB check the cost of fixing versus new computer. sounds like a HD issue, but could be MB. if it turns out to be the HD you might consider an external HD that plugs into a USB port. that will allow you to check if the problem persists. if it goes away then it's the HD, and you either replace the HD or use the external, if it's the MB then you have an external HD for a backup. that will, at least, give you a definitive answer.

I suggest you update the BIOS vision to see if this can help
you said the clock is wrong, maybe you should change the battery of the motherboard
