why do we want the things, that we can have?

Why do we eat at an all you can eat buffet when we know people in less fortunate countries are starving.. Its simple: Because we can. Its there for the taking, and we are compelled to take what we can get.

Its a characteristic of our species. Its been the motivating energy that has pushed us to spread across the earth and into space. Its made us the most successful and dominant species ever to exist on this planet.
