I have a movie on dvd and I need to put it on my computer, but I don't have any software besides windows media player. And I was wondering if that would do the trick?

No you need a different program to rip DVDs. Try doing a search for a ripping program. Many of them have free trials. Though I have heard they sometimes have a logo on the side of the frame - so be careful of this
