You should get a good carpet cleaner. They have great sprays at places like walmart or CVS. Use the foaming ones. If you cant go out right now, and you have a light colored carpet you should try a tsp of ammonia in a large cup of water. This should help take out most of the blood until you can go to the store.

To clean blood from carpet pour hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain and allow to foam. Blot with a cloth dampened with water. The peroxide will break down the protein in the blood and release the stain.

Baking soda (bi-carb) and white vinegar.
Dampen the stain with a clean wet cloth. Smother with baking soda until it forms a crusty coating.
Leave for about 10 minutes.
Pour white vinegar and leave for a few hours.
The vinegar re-acts with the Baking soda and should eat straight through the stain without ruining your carpet or causing any discoloration to occur.

I asked my OB/GYN if they ever got blood stains on the carpet in their rooms and was told that they often do. They pour bathroom strength peroxide directly on the blood...which immediatly foams up and they blot it up with paper towels. Sometimes you have to apply several times to get it all out.

Ammonia Solution - Mix one tablespoon of household ammonia per cup of water. Please note: Be aware that ammonia, if used improperly, can cause a color change. Be sure to test a hidden area. Only use a white rag to blot the area

Lots of cold water. Don't use hot water. Hot water will set the stain.
