What you do is speak what is on your mind. Usually if the answer doesn't pop into your head immediately it is profound and needs not a clever joke of an answer. Joking here would make one look stupid, ergo you should lean back, furrow your brow, and put your hand on your chin covering your mouth until you have in your head a formulated answer.
