I have professors who mention students who have jobs waiting for them 6 months before they even graduate, but then I know people who don't start the process until they graduate. I'm graduating in May and I'm trying to get a feel for what's out there, but not applying for anything yet - am I behind?? When ddi you land your first real job or start the job search process in general? Thanks!

I went to Europe for a month after graduating and then had my first "real job" w/in a couple months of returning. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, just find something that is right for you. My motto was, "I'm going to pick the best job in the best location and go for it!"

Let's see, I graduated college in June and got my first "real" job in August. That job lasted 10 years.

I went to Harvard so it only took me about 7 years to land my job. It depends on your college really. I would say the average time is about 9-20 years. Unless you want to work at McDonald's or Burger King to clean toilets there, I would stick around until you have found the perfect job.Good Luck!

I had two offers come through the same week about 6 months before I graduated. I accepted one of them so I didn't take any further interviews or trips.
