what you are referring to are e-books, electronic books , which in most part come as .pdfs, or just a plain text file

most e-books are not free
i'd say a search through google or yahoo would net you plenty of free e-books

Check with your local library; many of them have county or state-wide internet access to on-line downloadable books, both in text or audio.

check limewire. my cousin and her husband download lots of full books off of limewire.
