No. It has been paid for, is being paid for, and will continue to be paid for, with the lives of those men and women willing to die to protect it, and the all the rights people take for granted in this great country.

In the websters dictionary defination: the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous. Freedom also has a price and that is to protect what is desireable to the people at any cost even to death. If you think about it, most wars are usually created by one opponant that will be fighting to defend their freedom or to create freedom for a certain people and the other side of the opponant will be the one that will take away someones freedom or to defend certain people from having freedom.

we cant be free. for what is free? the freedom to think? no, being free is an illusion. we are all programmed to be flawed by the society around us, and we cant shake off the hard wiring even to be free to be who we could be. we have phobias, fears, hates, loves, and likes of things that control our lives. we believe we are unique, but we are all programmed the same, just differently through individual experience.

to be free is to die, then we will know what the price of freedom is.

and dont quote the lives of dead soldiers as a price of freedom, the Iraq guys are not fighting for the wests freedom, but for greed. they are tools of the corrupt. they die for nothing. they are not at fault, as they jump to their orders willingly.
the middle east will never like the west, we share different cultural capital and beliefs. they will not equate the sacrifice of our western sons to friendships and respect.

death is the only freedom we have in our futures. freedom from experience, freedom from fear, freedom from the perceptions of others that have created us.

No. I spent 3 years in the Army to pay for it. (Lucky for me I didn't have to go over seas as this was back during Nam.) But that isn't the only way it isn't free.
To stay free you have to do nasty, unpleasant things like read up on what's going on in your government, pay attention to what your elected officials are doing, and even, gasp!, go VOTE!
Yeah, that is the biggest cost of freedom right there. You have to pay attention to those you elect to govern you and even sometimes call them to order for their actions. (Remember Nixon?) And I do mean keep the politicians in check.
One country I read about in history class let a slick talking, psycho get elected a few years back. Times were hard and scary and they let him have a lot of power and gave up some of theirs. Then he came up with real good reasons to invade and annex other country's and ways to 'get rid' of people he said were the cause of every ones problems.
That guy that got elected was called Adolf Hitler. He seemed okay at the time, I'm sure.
But it just proves that part of the price of freedom is vigilance.

Hellz naw. You gotta get you an Ipod by Apple and an Xbox by Microsoft. That way when you go to pizza hut and get you a 555 deal and a 2 liter bottle of refreshing Pepsi Cola you'll be well satisfied to ***** about election reform and then do nothing until you go to sleep from the exertion of lugging your fat *** around all day.

Absolutely not and we should be grateful that we've had and still have men and women willing to make sure we keep our freedom.
