It is the male's sperm that will give you a little boy or a little girl! And, what the family has regarding the difference genders does not have any effect of the outcome! My husband's siblings are all boys and we have a little girl! So...congratulations and best of luck!!! (very good question)

I don't think you can really go by what each side of the family has, but it is the sperm that determines the sex. That's how people can do sex selection the sperm gets spun and the xx and xy sperm weigh different it is separated and then inserted into the woman. There are studies that show the older you are, mostly over 40 the higher the chance of having a girl.

well its the dads sperm that reflects a boy or girl not your parents or his parents its all on who the fastest swimmer was.
Immediately upon fertilization your little one is set as a boy or a girl. Ladies, this is one that you can't take credit for since it is up to the sperm to determine the sex of your baby. Sperm carries either a "X" (girl) chromosome or a "Y" (boy) chromosome. (*Hint:* You will have to hold off on picking out the pink or blue until at least the second trimester when the gender will be visible via ultrasound.)

It is only dependent on the sperm that reaches the egg first and enters the egg. This sperm maybe x or y chromosome. One sperm sex breaks down the egg and gets there faster but wears out upon getting there and trying to break into the egg. This allows the slower other sex sperm to get there and break into the egg. Sorry I forget which sex sperm normally gets there first. The other genetic factor has to do with the fathers sperm and how many x or y chromosome sperms he produces. Of course it is the fathers sperm that decides which sex the child will be.

It has nothing to do with you at all determining the sex of your child.

Your husband's sperm determines the sex of the baby. While I've heard some old wives tales about these things, scientifically, it's all up to your husband.

the father's because men have X and Y chromosomes and if the sperm that fertilizes the egg is a Y chromosome then the baby is a boy. if the sperm is an X chromosome than the baby is a girl.

XX=girl
XY=boy

It is not "side of the family" or heredity. It is the father's sperm that makes it go one way or the other. It happens in the moment and it is speculated that temperature of the testicles has something to do with it.

I'm afraid the question of the sex of your child-to-be can only be determined by chance. However, I am inclined to believe that you may find hints to this question by surveying births on both you and your husband's side. My strongest bet, is that you are expecting a girl.

the father's body decides. But I don't think it really matters what the "pattern" of births is in their extended family. Good Luck

There is really no way to predict. But old wives tales, say that it follows the father's father's side. Good Luck!
