Yes. Many prostitutes or strippers who have been victims of sexual abuse use their outward sexuality as a barrier. Even though they seem to be open, many are actually closed to true personal intimacy, as in one-on-one commitment. Since they have been so hurt before, some of them won't let anyone in.
One woman on a cable special admitted she used her prostitution and drug addiction lifestyle to keep herself numbed out so she didn't feel the pain between her and her family. So she seems to offer easy sex on the outside, but inside she is closing herself off to avoid pain she doesn't want to face.
