there really aren't any big names floating around, and lots of teams are either still competitive at this point in the season, so some teams that traditionally are sellers before the deadline are standing pat.

another complication is the new salary cap. most teams are pretty near the cap so a blockbuster where a high-priced addition or rental is brought on board is not likely.

the only names i've heard very often are tkachuk and darcy turker. pretty weak. have also seen/heard scotty gomez and david aebischer mentioned....the flyers should be sellers but outside of gagne their players aren't real appealng, and they'd be insane to get rip of gagne. someone might take a chance with forsberg.

my team (dallas) really needs a trade to get some offensive help in a big way, but they've been silent. it's a crappy market.

well the big name up there is Peter Forsberg he will be dealt by the trade deadline for sure, the Flyers need to get draft picks and need young players which if they do trade Forsberg they will get both from a team that's challenging for the cup.

Montreal Canadiens will need that big power forward up front which we badly need, we have no cap room so will have to get rid of some players. Habs players that might be gone by trade deadline Abby(we don't need 2 #1 goalies we have Yann Denis) Samsenov ( hasn't done **** for the Habs and is just dead wight on the ice) that's about $4 million right there and we can afford to lose one defence cause we are stacked with defence. could get Dandenault out there too.

Abby
Samsenov
Dandenault
$close to $5 mil for a top power forward that would be nice.we need to get rid of good players to get a good player in return, Habs at salary cap limit.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

2 guys I think could be in different sweaters after Feb 27...

Keith Tkachuk, STL: the Blues are going nowhere and would probably like to dump his salary.

Sean Avery, LAK: the Kings are going nowhere too, and a number of teams (like my Flames) would love to have this guy. Also, I'm told LA General Manager Dean Lombardi says "the Kings will be sellers" at the trade deadline.

Most likely the Habs will deal Aebischer. Rumour has it they might also deal Ryder, maybe Dandenault. There is a possiblity they might trade Souray as well if they don't feel they can resign him in the offseason (he'll be asking for roughly $6.5 million per season). Samsanov might also be up for grabs (as of now 2 goals in his last 35 games) and Bonk who really hasn't contributed as much as he should. They really need a big physical forward and a second line centerman.
Look for the Av's to deal Jose Theodore for a puck.

Marian Hossa is lengthy gone, one or more effective of the Kings defenseman are lengthy gone, someone from Florida will be traded to a contender, Ottawa will commerce Emery away and get yet another goalie in go back, Tampa Bay will commerce Prospal or Boyle and also get a goalie, Toronto receives rid of both Sundin or Kaberle yet no longer both.

look for colorado to make a move, over the last ten years, theyve acquired players like theo fleury, ray bourque, bryan marchment, rob blake, darius kasparitis, jose theodore, tommy salo, derek morris, and dave andreychuk. they want to move a defenseman, well, once john-michael liles, patrice brisbois, and jordan leopold get healthy, they could always use a foward to play with sakic and hejduk (leaving the second line for the young kids stastny, wolski, and svatos), but i think they will go after a reliable veteran goalie so they can get rid of theodore's salary and to help peter budaj develop, similar to the way roy helped aebischer. as a fan, id love to see forsberg or foote back in an avs uniform

If there is a less than 4 or 5 million good center/foward, Habs will try to get their hands on it by offering a denfensman and/or a goaler. Any teams in need of defense out there? ;)

....And as promotion get Samsonov free! lol

I wouldn't be surprised to se eMartin Biron leave Buffalo, but God only knows what Dary Regier plans to try and get for him. Hopefully someone who can pass the puck or actually do something right on the power play.

I believe Bertuzzi will leave Florida, Forsberg will leave Philadelphia and hopefully if there is a God, Antropov will leave Toronto.
