Could Michael Devlin have met both of these kids online and decided to kidnap them? Shawn seemed to have a lot of contact with the online community while he was living with Devlin... I wonder if he was watching Ben Ownby for some time.

The areas where these boys were taken are rural. Sometimes around here only a few cars pass a day, with no one around to witness anything. That is also why Mitchell was able to describe the vehicle so well it was out of place.

I think he just saw the opportunity and took it. I don't think he had a specific child in mind and I seriously doubt Shawn or Ben had any contact with Devlin before the kidnappings.

He may have been watching Ben's school bus. I wouldn't be surprised if he was. He probably knew he walked the short distance to his house alone every day.

It seems a very plausible explanation as to what transpired. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one thinking Michael Devlin, NOT Shawn Hornbeck, was the one posting with pics, and under that name? If he's such a computer savvy person, into child pornography, and capable of keeping a minor (voluntarily OR involuntarily) in his home without parental knowledge/consent... Just saying...

I only hope these two young men have the chance to continue on positively in life, whatever the heart of the problem may be. I have been very vigilant in discussing these events with my 14 year old son so he may learn from this disturbing course of events. I am constantly asking he be careful in what he posts and selective in whom he speaks to.

Only time will tell what transpired. I hope a majority of the public is respectful to what would be in the best interest of these young men. They are after, after all, children.

If that's the case , it's just a matter of time before that fact comes to light , once their computers are searched . I think he took them because it was a rural area and it allowed a quick get-away ; and of course because he is some form of child predator .
