This is like saying priest are more sexually corrupt today than before. The difference between today and the past is that people are not afraid to come forward. I am not certain that this statistic is as high as you make it sound, however. How many teachers do you know of that actually have been convicted of this crime?

Yes, I watched an episode about this on Oprah's show. The debate was whether Female Teachers should be chraged with sexual asult like Male Teachers have been inthe past.

When I am teaching older grades I make it very clear to my students that I am a teacher and they are the students,so that their is no confusion.

Female sexual predators are the same as Male sexual predetors and will use all types of excuses to justify themselves.

You posed a thoughtful question.

What you notice is the global presence of the media through instant access to court documents and instant communication of news stories through the Internet.

This has gone on since time immemorial, but the ability of the media to find out about it and report it has grown a billion-fold with the advent of the Internet and high speed data transfer.

We encourage our kids, from a very young age, to report inappropriate advances by strangers and those in authority, this may have something to do with the increasing number of prosecutions, as well.

Get used to it - it sells.

I am going to school and I have a couple of real fine male teachers and I would not sleep with them. First off I have that respect for them as a student/teacher. Second I would never cross that line. They are doing there job and I would not sleep with a teacher for a grade. Third: It is against the law. To sum it up no matter how old you are or what sex you are it is just wrong for you to do it.

I surely do, but not young women, but male sleeping with male boys usually. I don't care about that, its school problem to watch over that, teacher will be fire and she or he may not ever get a job again as a teacher or anything that has to do with children.

I bet it happens a helluva lot more than is reported, just the boys doing the deed are better at keeping their mouths shut then the ones who are getting caught and having the teacher exposed.

I don't know if more and more teachers are sleeping with younger boys if more and more of them are getting caught.

In today's instant media, your business is rabidly becoming everyone elses business.

Nothing new just more DAs are bringing charges against the offenders because before it used to be considered "What a Lucky guy" rather than a crime.

Makes you wonder of the future of teaching. Will this force more families to begin homeschooling or will other alternatives become available?

It's scary. You send your children to school to learn, but this is NOT the lesson you'd hoped for...
