You will have to check as to whether or not your DVD drive is a burner. It may only be a DVD-ROM drive, which means it will read DVD's, but not write to blanks. If your drive IS a burner, check to see if it's a DVD-R or a DVD+R drive, or a combo burner that will burn either. If it's limited to either a + or a - disc, those are the discs you will have to use. Obviously, if it's a combo drive, it'll burn either + or - discs. So, check that first. All that being said, it could be that the driver for the drive is corrupt. If that's the case, right click on "My Computer", click on "Properties", then on the "Hardware" tab, then on the bar that says "Device Manager". Once there, find the listing for your drive, right click on it, and from the resulting menu choose "Uninstall". Once it's done, exit and reboot. Windows should see the drive as "New Hardware" and reload the driver for it. Then try the appropriate blank disc again. Good luck.

Make sure that the computer has a DVD burner. It may not even have a DVD reader. If it does, take it to your local computer repair shop. They may be able to fix it for you. Hope this answer helps!!!!

windows does not support native DVD burning. you cannot burn a DVD the same way that you burn a CD. you will need a program like Nero to burn that DVD.

probably time to replace the burner a dvd rom uses two sets of lasers. one for cd's and cd roms, and the other for dvd's. the laser for the dvd is probably burned out. very rare but it can happen.
