If the guy and the girl are soooo lovey-dovey, why'd they even break up to begin with, and why don't they dump who they're with and get back together?

the first time i listened to the actual lyrics in this song i got mad for the same reasons. i just though - hey, get over it. your with someone else so you shouldnt be thinking about someone like that. and if you still love her, you shouldnt be with your current girlfriend.
oh well, it is still a nice song

he said because she made it hard to be faithful. & they don't want to end their current relationships because they don't want to hurt others. or???? it's just the way the song is supposed to be, to make it sound more dramatic, if they were together again, there'd be nothing to talk about. people are more interested in broken hearts than happy couples. ;)

maybe because theyre confused :
they were together and got in a fight,they thought they were over each other, they both got with somone, started liking that person, and realized they still had feelings for the other one. just saying.
