I'd agree with everyone here and say fake. Christmas trees in NY went for, like, $500 this past holiday. WTF? That's ridiculous. I'd rather pay a couple hundred bucks for something that's gonna last me a few years.

Well, getting a fake Christmas tree has alot more advantages than getting a real one.
1. Cheap( if you take care of it you can use the same same tree for years, how long depends on how cheap you are)
2. Neater ( i recently ventured into the unknown by getting a real tree after years of having fake ones, they are a mess to take home, take care and and dispose of)
3. Environment ( you will be saving trees, although i don't see the truth in that statement, have you seen all the trees those lots have? i don't think they sell them all)
although the real deal makes your home smell alot nicer and somehow makes Christmas more real.
Still i think i'm sticking to fake ones from now on.

Now days you can buy fake ones that look like real ones if you shop around. You can also buy spray to make them smell like they are fresh cut trees. I feel it is best to go with the fake ones it saves our trees which is a great thing, with real ones you have to make sure they do not dry out or they will start a fire. Fake ones you do not have to worry about them drying out. Real trees you have to worry about getting rid of them after the holiday is over, the fake one you just put away and use it the following year. Saves money also buy a fake one take good care of it and it should last for years to come.

When I lived at home, my dad would never let us have a real one because of the huge risk of fire. We're the kind of people who put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving and keep it up through Epiphany (January 6).
I'd stick to the fake ones.

They both have plus's and negatives. A real tree smells nice, is not factory designed so it's own unique character comes shining through, it requires keeping the trunk watered usually nightly to help it maintain it's splendor, and it doesn't require storage room after your done with it.
A fake tree, doesn't have the aroma of a fresh tree, is factory designed so there are no bare spots or bent trunks, it does not require water, and you must have room to store the tree and it's decorations after the holidays.
Both are nice, both have their own unique qualities. It just depends on the person and what they enjoy and prefer.

Well fake ones, last longer, you can keep them up longer, you don't have needles to vaccuum up, you don't have to water it. But I am one of those people that think there is nothing better than the smell that you can only get from a real Christmas tree.
