A couple of things when considering party games
1) how level is the game?
A party game like Taboo, Scatergories and Trivia will usually be dominated by the resident geek possibly making the game session a tad boring for the pre-school drop out who can barely spell his name.
2) Is there a player cap or can the game be scaled.
Party games should be as inclusive as possible so everyone including late joiners can play
A good recommendation is Wits and Wagers.
Up to 7 teams will write numerical answers to a trivia question. The answer is then placed on the game mat for everyone to see. The teams now place wagers on which is the answer most likely to be correct. Different payoff odds are assigned to each answer based on how far they are away from the mean answer. The answer is revealed and the winnings are paid out to those who bet on the correct or closest correct answer.
Still, if you would like a game that requires more creativity from the team members, Turbo Cranium is a great contender.
Based on the original Cranium series where players have to get their team mates to guess correct answers by doing one of the following: 1) Draw, Hum, Act, Mold clues.
Turbo enhances teamwork with innovations like puppet master where you have to get your puppets to act out the clue by moving them around. You may on occasion use yourself as a prop.
Group reverse spelling requires that the team takes turns to spell a word backward one alphabet at a time. The weakest link, however, stays on till the end of the game.

There is a great game out there called "Curses" The game has challenge cards and curse cards. The challenge cards require you to do something, like pretend you are a polititian trying to get people to vote for you. And the curse cards are stuff like "talk like elmer fudd for the rest of the game. You can stack curses on people and the results are hilarious. Picture someone who has to talk like elmer fudd with their hands stuck to the top of their heads, and every time someone mentions a food, they have to cluck like a chicken. All of this happens while this person pretends to beg you for money or something.

Any of the classic boardgames are obviously good, but either Taboo or Cranium are also a lot of of fun. Ever think about Twister too? That can be hilarious when played by large, inflexible people.
