I went to my doctor today and he said I might have an ovarian cyst. I was just wondering if anyone else has had one and what it felt like and how they were treated. I will be setting up an appointment with an OBGYN soon to get checked out, but I was just curious to see other people's experiences and compare symptoms. Thanks.

Hi daphner!!!

You do not say how big in cetimeters they are, and that could be a huge difference on the specific treatment.

This cysts are very common and some of them even almost desapeare afte a while. If you are ovulating you will find out this symtoms, and size will altered. But they are usually bening(no cancerous), still there is a need for concern.

Some times it could be one as it could then be many.
Your monthly periods rather changes with their presence and it could be accompany with much pain and cramps. Some times you can experience cramps and pain even without, ovulating.

Always keep your appointments and you should ask for
an "Internal Transversal Vaginal, Ultrasound". Don't be scare of the sofisticated name, is just a simple painless exam, where they "probe" the vaginal conduct, and by means of sound waves they can actually, see internally. (NO, it doesn't hurt a bit).

This is the best way to determine the size or sizes and locations, to alert the doctor of any emergency or real inmidiate emergency care.

Daily routines such as walking, running, walking "down stairs", or sexual activities, may be uncomfortable and even painful, at times.

Please, keep healthy and let us know how you feel from time to time.

GOD BLESS YOU, STAY HEALTHY, HAPPY LIFE

It is a VERY big possiblity that it could be a cyst. I am reading your question and you sound EXACTLY like I do. I have cysts and have been on BC since I was 13 because of the same issues. IT sounds like you do have a cysts, and they should be able to do an ultra sound on your stomach (not internal) to see them if they are there. Somjetimes it requires surgery to get them removed other times you have to let them burst on their own wich is painfull, but you feel SOOOO much better after. The pain you might be having now may be one that has already burst and the fluid is aggrivating everything. Look up Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom. I have this and many other females have it too with out knowing it. There are some other health problems they may go along with PCOZ (polycystic ovarian syndrom), that need to be addressed. Nothing life thratening, just stuff that is a pain in the butt. I hope you feel better hun! I know where you are coming from and they really do suck. Good luck hun, and if they are still "finding nothing" but you are still having the pain, KEEP PUSHING THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I have been dealing with cysts for 8 years now, and they still wont do anything to help me. Its a long road if they keep coming back, but hopefully they will help you more than dr.'s have been helping me!!! Good luck love!!

i was diagnosed with polycistic ovary (12-15 cyst per ovary) about 14 yrs ago. at that time my doctor told me it wasnt a big thing and that some cyst are normal. in hindsight i would have gotten a 2nd or 3rd opinion because now i am a mess, but i wont go into that but mearly request that if you are having the intense pain in your lower stomach that i have had...... demand to be taken seriously and do not be scared to stand up for yourself. the result from not receiving treatment when first diagnosed is not something i would pass on. however, if you arent getting the abnormal bleeding, sever pain, and your body acting like it's pregnant ... it may just be a normal cyst that will vanish in time, but why take the chance

Ovarian cysts are pretty common. I had something called a Dermoid Cyst on one ovary. It was large, the size of a grapefruit, while most ovarian cysts tend to be smaller.I had surgery to have it removed, and suprisingly enough, the surgery wasn't that tough at all. I know with a lot of regular ovarian cysts, they can be shrunken with medication. Ask your doctor for the specifics, there is lots of information online.

I had one drained, I also had appendicitis to go with it. So I had an appendectomy and a cyst drained at the same time. Afterwards though the surgeon told me they don't normally do that, they just let them burst. I thought it was strange but it hurts a lot when it happens cause I think that it's happened a few times since then.

I have them, I found out I had them in high school when one ruptured and the fluid leaked. It sucked. It just causes a little bit of pain when you are ovulating. They gave me anti-inflammatorys for the other one that hadnt ruptured to make it smaller. They come and go.

It all pretty much depends on the size of them . Good luck with them!
