My picks: First, Texas. Second (by a longshot, but I still love it,) North Carolina.

Texas: some of the friendliest people anywhere; huge, thriving cities (D/FW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston,) great job market, eclecticism in Austin, history in San Antonio and Ft. Worth, beaches, mountains, prairies, deserts, corn nuggets, Houston Astros, a great state! And the women...wow!

North Carolina: Away from the yankee enclaves (Fayetteville, Raleigh, and Charlotte,) it's still a pretty friendly state. There is a lot to do--NASCAR, Asheville, the Biltmore, Outer Banks, hiking, Smoky Mountains, etc. The prettiest of the three states!

Kentucky, while beautiful, is no hotbed of economic growth and progessive thinking. The politicians have helped to prohibit growth and development. People are, by and large, guarded and frankly hateful (especially Louisville); small towns are very sheltered and closed off to "the outside." I'm a native who has NEVER felt comfortable or at home there.

NC.
I'm a damn yankee from up north, and I moved here about 15 years ago. I love it here. We've got the mountains, beaches and everything in between! And it rivals Colorado in beauty (lived there for 2 years). I have never in my life met more colorful and crazy prople! Dont get me started on the rednecks! lol There is a severe problem with illegal immigrants, but I can mostly overlook it, since I'm not looking or fighting for a job.

;o)

Being an section, i respect Texas, yet (please do not strike me lifeless for this) i imagine i love Utah even more effective perfect. that is sooooo beautiful with the majestic mountains. that is an truly relations-pleasant surroundings and that i'll't imagine elevating my childrens everywhere else. nonetheless, I bypass over the southern hospitality, the uber-pleasant human beings and the etiquitte of the south (ma'am, sir). Oh, and the timber. human beings imagine Texas is dry and barren. somewhat the option is real. Love North Carolina and California. by no ability been to Kentucky. I also love southern Florida.

Been all three places. I'll pick North Carolina.

Agree with you about Kentucky. Not about Texas. In my experience....well, you don't want to know.
