I've known several people who have had this done and every single one of them got an infection. They give you something to clean it with but, In my opinion, the best thing to keep it clean is alcohol. Hope this helps.

It hurts a tiny bit - but was over very, very fast. It was nothing like when I had my tongue pierced. If the place is professional, you won't really feel anything. They'll pull the skin up and out a little, and hold it steady with what looks like a pair of tongs. The needle goes through smoothly...and the jewelry you pick will be on the end of the needle, so it should be done in one quick swift motion.

You'll want to make sure to keep it very clean. Take regular showers, but don't use your regular soap on the piercing. Use the special cleanser they give (or sell) you. They'll give you directions when you leave. Be sure to have them actually SHOW you what they want you to do so you can SEE it. You can move it around a little when you're rinsing it with the special cleanser...but DON'T wiggle/play with it too much. If you do, it'll become tender and may start to hurt and get red. It also increases the chances that you'll get an infection.

Just buy the cleanser at the shop that they offer you, and don't play with it too much at first. It'll be fine...and you'll love it in about 1 week!

it felt like a pinch. cleaning it is simple. soap and water. then follow it with neosporin. when i change mine i always put neosporin on each side then on the tip on the one i was about to put in. it makes it glide easier. but when you get it pierced they will give you all of the info you need to take care of it. i didn't get infection either time i got mine pierced. i had to take it out when i was pregnant then got it redone the second time. and the guy who said the hole will be there forever is full of it. the hole will close up. the scar is barely noticeable. i know this because i took mine out that one time. just make sure the place you go to has a good reputation and is very clean.

Not as much as you tongue being pierced!! The hurt for me was as much as my ear's being pierced. Is tolerable pain. I just used warm water with salt dissolved in it to clean piercing. The bar just unscrews like a nut and bolt. Very easy, not heaps painful and looks awesome. Good luck.

i wager you're going to make certain if it hurts although abdomen button piercing is so completely '90s. do not problem. purchase some new shoes with the money or get a clean coiffure for spring.

when i got mine done i was in 8th grade, my cousins boyfriend was a professional. it didnt hurt one bit. i didnt feel the needle go in, i mean i felt him push and all but it didnt hurt. and then when he put the ring thing in he kinda had to pull, but that wasnt bad. I just had to use anti bacterial soap and wash it with it. i ususally just took a cutip and put some soap on it and scrubbed it up, and TURNED the ring so the soap got into the hole, then rinsed it off with some good water. Make sure you dont change it for like a couple months-- at least two. i changed mine after a month--BAD idea. it got really infected, but i just put the original ring back in and washed it and it eventually went away. just dont touch it and turn it when your not suppost to. it will get kinda crusty...but, it'll go away.

The actual process feels like a pinch.
YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF IT!
One thing that bugged me was every time I sat down my pants/belt would rub against it.

Ashley,
Yes, it does hurt quite a bit. You are also opening yourself up to possible infection. So think twice before you make that move, girl! Good luck to you!

Some of my friends said it was the worst pain they've ever had while others say they didn't even feel it. Guess it depends on your pain tolerance.

To be straight foward with you i don't think you should pierce it because you are just damaging the beautiful body you have. Think about it, when you remove the ring the hole would be there FOREVER.
