Currently we have no proof to know if extraterrestrials exist or not.

If no other life existed in the universe, it would be an awful waste of space. (miss-quoted form the book and movie "Contact" by Carl Sagan)

So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.

Why haven't we heard from them?

Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.

Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.

Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.

Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.

Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.

It is really impossible to know for sure.

The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

The proof is us. Yes..us. We are in space too remember. We are on a tiny planet called Earth, floating in space, revolving around a medium sized star called Sun. We are the live example of life in the universe, why not somewhere else too. (Taking into consideration the size of the cosmos.).

When we know that a galaxy is made up of billions of start systems and we have trillions of such gallaxies, then why not. we are talking about a fraction of star systems (like our sun) that could have a planet with right amount of ingredients to sustain life.

Saying that the entire cosmos can't hold any kind of life is contradicting our own existence. I am not talking about that little green alien with tentacles sticking out of his/her head. Ofcourse, I am amazed by all those hollywood movies and ufo theories. But here, I am talking about serious life at any level. Even microscopic. Life is life no matter what size. When we believe in math so strongly, which has several theorems that are proved by contradiction, why not use the same principle to life elsewhere.

There are trillions and trillions and trillions of galaxies, each of which has billions of star systems, which in turn has several billions of planetary systems. Taking all that into account, we have astronomical number of planets. We know for sure that one planet (our earth) among those trillions of planets has life. We are the sole example and so can't say no for that.

There is a numbers probability but no proof yet.

If you mean extraterrestrials, rather than migrant workers, there is no evidence to indicate that they exist, other than in supermarket tabloids and phantasmagorical web sites.
